CRAYOLA: PACKAGING FOR NATURAL CRAYONS
PRODUCT LINE EXTENSION CONCEPT
Crayola LLC (not affiliated with this project)
A parent with young children who feels concerned about the wellbeing of the environment needs to provide their kids with creative tools but can’t find many environmentally-friendly options.
Crayola has the opportunity to use their established product brand name to create a new product that would vertically extend them into the environmentally-conscious segment of the art supplies market.
The crayons could be made from a beeswax-based material and colored with natural dyes. The packaging would be printed on paper made with post consumer waste fiber. The die cuts would slightly reduce the amount of paper used, as well as bring memory into the design by allowing the user to see the crayons before they are taken out of the box and after they have been returned.
